), the world's largest bookseller, announced it has signed a lease agreement to open a new Barnes & Noble bookstore in Commack, New York Commack is a hamlet and census-designated place (CDP) in Suffolk County, New York, United States. The population was 36,367 at the 2000 census.

Commack is partly in the Town of Huntington and the Town of Smithtown. It is located on Long Island.

The bookstore, expected to open in July 2008, will be located in the Huntington Square Shopping Center shopping center, a concentration of retail, service, and entertainment enterprises designed to serve the surrounding region. The modern shopping center differs from its antecedents—bazaars and marketplaces—in that the shops are usually amalgamated into  at 400 East Jericho Turnpike turnpike, road paid for partly or wholly by fees collected from travelers at tollgates. * Large-scale children's departments. Bigger than most typical bookstores and stocking over 15,000 titles in an easy-to-browse environment, "Barnes & Noble Jr." departments are designed to appeal to children, parents, teachers and librarians. Children's story hours will be held three times a week.

* Advanced technology music-listening system. The store's music department will feature RedDotNet, the most advanced listening technology. RedDotNet enables customers to listen to any CD in the store, sampling up to 200,000 music titles by simply passing it under a scanner.
