The SBC FreedomLink Wi-Fi service will allow Barnes & Noble and SBC customers to use their laptop computers A portable computer that has a flat LCD screen and usually weighs less than eight pounds. Often called just a "laptop," it uses batteries for mobile use and AC power for charging the batteries and desktop use. Today's high-end laptops provide all the capabilities of most desktop computers.  and personal digital assistants to communicate online, surf the Internet and connect to corporate networks at speeds 50 to 100 times faster than a dial-up connection, all from the comfort of their local Barnes & Noble bookstore and cafe.
