Bard Taps Washington Veteran to Head Federal/Public Affairs.

C. R. Bard, Inc. (NYSE:BCR) today announced the appointment of Holly P. Glass as vice president, government and public relations, effective immediately.

Since 1997, Ms. Glass served as Bard's government and public affairs consultant in Washington, D.C., applying her public relations and lobbying experience to a variety of issues affecting Bard and the global medical technology industry. In her new capacity, Ms. Glass will continue to manage this effort, communicating the company's positions and messages to key external audiences on behalf of the Corporate office and Bard's eight operating divisions. She will report to Bard Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, William H. Longfield.

Prior to her consulting work with Bard, Ms. Glass served as vice president of public affairs at AdvaMed, the medical device trade association in Washington, D.C., for five years. She had held several other senior communications posts in Washington, including vice president of broadcast services at Hill and Knowlton Public Affairs Worldwide, and director of public relations at Gallaudet University, the world's only university for the deaf. As a journalist, Ms. Glass was a researcher and then feature reporter in the Washington bureau of Scripps-Howard News Service, and as a production assistant for WRGB-TV and WGY-AM, a CBS affiliate in Albany/Schenectady, NY.

Ms. Glass has lent her communications expertise to several not-for-profit organizations, including serving as a board trustee for a Washington-area chapter of The American Red Cross and The National Capital Area Leukemia Society of America. She has received several career honors, including an EMMY Award from the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, for the production of a television spot to support funding for leukemia research. She holds a B.S. degree from Suffolk University and completed the graduate certificate program at Boston University's Public Communications Institute.
