Bard Silver & Gold - BHP to Explore Botanamo Gold Project.

VANCOUVER, British Columbia--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 1, 1996--Donald R. Sheldon, President of Bard Silver & Gold Ltd. ("Bard") (VSE:BDS) is pleased to announce that an agreement has been signed with BHP Minerals International Exploration Inc. ("BHP") to provide the funding for the exploration of the Botanamo and Acarigu concessions Bolivar State Venezuela.

BHP has the options to acquire up to a 70 percent interest in a Joint Venture covering the concession, following the expenditures of US$3 million by June 1, 1999. BHP has committed to complete a US$300,000 drill program before June 1, 1996.

Exploratory work completed by Bard on the Botanamo Project has defined an unexplored Gold Bearing defamation zone, locally referred to as the Nuevo Callao Structure, which is considered to have excellent potential to host a large gold reserve.

On exercise of the option BHP has agreed to reimburse Bard and Greenwich Resources PLC ("Greenwich") US$5 million for a 70 percent interest. Upon exercising of the option, BHP has agreed to arrange or provide finance for the cost of the mine. Bard and Greenwich will receive 10 percent of the cash flow prior to financing repayment and then 30 percent following payout.

Bard will continue to explore the Increible 14 concession in the Greenwich/Bard Joint Venture and expects to spend US$1 million the calendar year 1996.

A further agreement has been signed with Greenwich whereby the 10 percent minority in International de Mina C.A. (Botanamo Concession) and the 30 percent minority in Minera Ora Bolivarense S.A. (Increible Concession) will be assigned to Bard in return for 1 million common shares in Bard subject to regulatory approval.

The Company is further pleased to announce that Eugene Beukman has been invited to join the Board of Directors of Bard and will replace Brian Murray who has resigned from the Board.
