Barbeques Galore Reports 12.2% Increase in U.S. Second-Quarter Same-Store Sales.


IRVINE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 5, 1999--

Barbeques Galore Barbeques Galore is an Australian chain of retail stores specializing in barbecue grills that also has a large presence in the United States. There are 84 stores in covering all of Australia, and 75+ stores in 10 American states.  Ltd. Net sales in the United States for the six months ended July 31, 1999, increased 33.1% to US$43.5 million (A$66.9 million) on a year-to-year basis, and in Australia, net sales for the same period increased 7.3% to A$42.3 million vs. one year ago.

Same-store sales comparisons are based on sales for all company-owned stores open at least one year.

Barbeques Galore is the leading chain of specialty retail stores devoted to sales of barbecues, fireside products and related accessories. As of July 31, 1999, the company owned and operated 34 stores in Australia and 53 stores in the United States.

In addition, there are 10 franchised stores in the United States and 47 licensed stores in Australia.
