DUBLIN, Ohio Dublin is a city in Delaware, Franklin, and Union counties in the U.S. state of Ohio. The population was 31,392 at the 2000 census. In 2006, the population was estimated to be 36,565[1], and Dublin continues to be one of the fastest-growing suburbs of Columbus.  -- Perio Inc. announced today that five-time gold medalist Gary Hall Gary Hall can refer to several people:
  • Gary Hall Sr. (born 1948) - Father of Gary Hall Jr.; represented the United States in the Olympics in Mexico City in 1968, Munich in 1972, and Montreal in 1976.

According to Tom Murray, president, Perio Inc., which owns Barbasol Shave Cream, Barbasol selected Hall, who has Type-1 diabetes, to its prestigious class of spokespersons because of his athletic achievements and ongoing personal and financial support of children that also have the disease. While Hall is the first Barbasol "Real Man," he joins legendary sports figures Babe Ruth, Knute Rockne and "Gentleman" Jim Corbett as a spokesperson for the 86-year-old brand.

"Barbasol has been America's shave cream of choice and part of the fabric of American culture for more than three-quarters of a century," Murray said. "Barbasol is an icon in its industry based on performance and availability to all persons. In turn, we wanted to create a campaign that recognizes individuals who consistently perform in situations when it matters most. Further, this campaign aligns with the company's commitment to support children."

Starting in May, Hall's image will appear on the back of millions of collector cans. This is the first time Barbasol has ever placed a face on its cans, which are universally known for their barber pole design. Hall will also appear in Barbasol television commercials aired through June 2006.

A portion of the proceeds from Barbasol can sales will benefit the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) is the leading charitable funder and advocate of type 1 (juvenile) diabetes research worldwide. Barbasol is sold in major retail outlets such as Wal-Mart, Target, Walgreens and grocery stores nationwide.

Hall commented, "When it comes to finding a cure for Type-1 diabetes, we can all make a difference. While I am honored to be selected as Barbasol's 'Real Man,' I am humbled by the awareness and financial support Barbasol is bringing to the need for a diabetes cure. During the 2004 Games in Athens, Greece, Hall successfully defended his gold medal in the 50-meter freestyle and regained the title of the "World's Fastest Man in the Water." In doing so, he and his father, Gary Hall Sr., became the only father-son duo to participate in three Games each.

Hall Jr. has earned 10 medals during his three Games, elevating him to the position of second most decorated American Olympian behind Carl Lewis. He was the oldest American male swimmer, at age 29, to compete in the Games since Duke Kahanamoku in 1924.
