Barbara (Longvall) Sanborn 1923-2009.


SUMMERFIELD, FL Barbara was born in Worcester, MA on January 22, 1923 to Raymond Chauncey and Juliet Petit Longvall. She passed quietly on November 11, 2009. She was preceded in death by her husband of over 59 years, Russell who died in 2001. They were married April 16, 1942 and lived their lives together in Worcester. Their son, Richard died in 2003. She is survived by 2 daughters, Carol Irene Ordway of Summerfield, FL and Jean Sanborn Soderquist of Eastsound, WA. She has 6 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild and several nieces and nephews.

Barbara was a devoted volunteer for the American Red Cross Blood Bank in Worcester for more that 50 years and she and her dear friend Dorothy Erickson also volunteered in the gift shop at the Higgins Armory Museum Higgins Armory Museum, located in Worcester, Massachusetts, is a public, non-profit museum specializing in the history of arms and armor. John Woodman Higgins built a unique steel and glass structure to house his collection of armor, one of the largest such collections in the . She renovated and restored the gift shop at Memorial Hospital in Worcester into the shop it is today.

She was a member of Central Congregational Church and Salem Covenant Church. She was an active member of The Daughters of the Nile as Russell was a Shriner. In their later years Barbara and Russell attended Salem Covenant Church where Russell was the baritone baritone or barytone (both: băr`ĭtōn), male voice, in a lighter and higher range than a bass but lower than a tenor.  soloist for many years, More recently she has attended College Park Baptist Church in Ocala, FL.

She moved to Florida to be close to her daughter, Carol in 2005. She continued volunteering with the Marion County Blood Bank in Florida until a few weeks before her passing. She was very active all her life and embodied the American spirit of volunteerism. She will be missed by her friends in Massachusetts as well as her newer friends in Florida.

Barbara has requested that there be no services. She will join Russell in the Atlantic Ocean Atlantic Ocean [Lat.,=of Atlas], second largest ocean (c.31,800,000 sq mi/82,362,000 sq km; c.36,000,000 sq mi/93,240,000 sq km with marginal seas). Physical Geography
