Bar invests in tech upgrades.


Buying scanners to improve the operation of the Bar's Attorney-Client Assistance Program and providing data backup services at a remote location for key Bar information were provided by budget amendments recently approved by the Board of Governors.

The board approved several amendments for the 2007-08 budget at its recent meeting in Coconut Grove. All were recommended by the Budget Committee.

The changes included:

* $14,900 to buy scanners for ACAP (Application Configuration Access Protocol) A protocol for storing configuration information in a central server. It is designed to enhance e-mail functions for remote users by providing a central location for personal address books and client application  and Lawyer Regulation headquarters in Tallahassee Tallahassee (tăləhăs`ē), city (1990 pop. 124,773), state capital and seat of Leon co., NW Fla.; inc. 1825. Tallahassee is a wholesale trade and distribution center for the surrounding lumber, livestock, and agricultural area. , which will assist in centralizing cen·tral·ize

* $11,200 for a remote data backup service for Bar computer operations.

* $29,600 from general funds to put lawyer disciplinary information on the Bar's Web site.

* $50,000 for the Bar's statewide pro bono Short for pro bono publico [Latin, For the public good]. The designation given to the free legal work done by an attorney for indigent clients and religious, charitable, and other nonprofit entities.  coordinator awards program was rolled from last year's budget to the current budget.

* $1,000 to provide accessibility of the disability poll and report from the Disability Independence Group to people with disabilities.
