Bar inspires ex-policeman.


A former North East policeman has taken on a new beat, setting up a bar in Switzerland.

Philip Getty, 44, was a police constable An official of a Municipal Corporation whose primary duties are to protect and preserve the peace of the community.

In medieval law, a constable was a high functionary under the French and English kings.
 in the West End of the city for 12 years before moving to Switzerland in 1992.

He managed nightclubs over there for many years but had always dreamed of owning his own bar.

On a trip back to his home city, Philip went for a drink in Fluid Bar & Kitchen on Newcastle's Gallowgate. He was so impressed with its design that he was inspired to follow his dream.

He wanted his own establishment to be just like the bar so called on Newcastle designers Fluid Design Solutions to create his bar, The Roadhouse road·house

Fluid Design Solutions made several trips to the site during the consultation and shipped all fixtures and fittings from Seaham's Swandene Furniture to Switzerland.

The Roadhouse is a British bar with an American twist and is celebrating a successful first 12 months of trading and entertaining everyone, from Swiss students to ex-patriates.
