Dean S. Read, President and Chief Executive Officer of Bar Harbor Bankshares, announces the following Officer appointment:

Gerald Shencavitz - Chief Financial Officer & Chief Operating Officer Chief Operating Officer (COO)

The officer of a firm responsible for day-to-day management, usually the president or an executive vice-president.
. Mr. Shencavitz is responsible for managing the financial, operational and technology functions for Bar Harbor Bankshares and its subsidiaries.

Mr. Shencavitz joined Bar Harbor Banking and Trust Company in 1998 and has served as Senior Vice President of Operations and Information Systems. He has twenty-six years experience in the financial services industry, including eleven years with Banknorth Group, Inc., and six years with Long Island Trust Company. He has held senior management positions in the areas of Audit, Loan Review, Operations and Technology. Mr. Shencavitz began his career with the CPA (Computer Press Association, Landing, NJ) An earlier membership organization founded in 1983 that promoted excellence in computer journalism.
