The Company attributed its earnings decline to a reduction in loan and investment net income spreads (due to fixed rate loans and investments being funded by short-term liabilities), increased overtime and salaries due to the Bank's April computer conversion and related follow-up, and the BTI Financial Group start-up expenses. Total loans increased by approximately 10%, to $276,990, from June, 1999 to June 2000, and loan demand remains strong. Total deposits remained relatively flat. The Company's capital-to-assets ratio was 10.2% at June 30, 2000, compared to 10.8% at December 31, 1999, both strong in comparison with industry norms.
