UK labels and labelling systems suppliers Sessions of York, have launched their new Veriscan system, a diminutive bolt-on accessory designed to scan and verify authenticity and check the readability of bar codes within accepted parameters. The Veriscan unit - which can be fitted to most printers and bar code generators - scans each bar code several hundred times a second as it exits the printer or print and apply labeller to ensure quick and effective scanning at point-of-sale. In the event of a bar code failure at source, the system will alert the production line operator by triggering an audible or visible alarm system. Alternatively, it can be made to automatically stop the labelling machine to which it is fitted. The Veriscan system is also able to download all of the scanned information to a database for validation purposes.
