Banyan provides user friendly information sharing with StreetTalk Desktop.


WESTBORO, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 5, 1997--Banyan See ePresence. Systems Inc. (NASDAQ: BNYN BNYN - ePresence (stock symbol; formerly known as Banyan)) today introduced StreetTalk An earlier directory service used in the VINES network operating system from Banyan Systems. Streettalk was always highly regarded and versions were also available for Windows NT. Streettalk Desktop was a 32-bit Windows client that let users create folders and keep track of shared documents. An easy to use desktop application, StreetTalk Desktop empowers StreetTalk users to tap into the information that exists within their network.

Leveraging the power of Banyan's widely acclaimed StreetTalk directory, StreetTalk Desktop enables users to best take advantage of vital information scattered throughout their network. Whether sharing information from within small workgroups, the intranets or even the Internet, teams of users can work together effectively without the need for technical expertise or administrator intervention.

It is used to manage user accounts and network permissions. When sent a user name, it returns the attributes of that individual, which may include a telephone number as well as an e-mail address. User Friendly

By handling both conventional files and Web links as objects contained in a shared folder, finding information located on a corporate file service or World Wide Web pages is as easy as point-an-click. These folders also allow users to easily add or remove documents, mix and match combinations of objects in any folder and access the information from anywhere on the enterprise network.

Directory Driven

The key to StreetTalk Desktop's simplicity is its integration with the StreetTalk directory which can track and locate people, resources, files and documents anywhere on the enterprise network even when people and resources change locations or server platforms. When users click on a document in a StreetTalk Desktop folder, StreetTalk quickly tracks where the document resides and brings it to the user's desktop.

StreetTalk Desktop supports Windows(r) 95 and Windows NT(r) clients and works with information from any application, such as Microsoft(r) Office. Additionally, StreetTalk Desktop supports the most popular Web browsers, including Netscape(r) Navigator and Microsoft Internet Explorer.

Pricing and Availability

StreetTalk Desktop is available now. The product can be purchased in ten and fifty user packages. Pricing for these packages is $390 for the ten user package, and $1450 for the fifty user package. A 30-day free evaluation of the product is available on Banyan's site (www.banyan.com ).

StreetTalk Desktop requires StreetTalk for Windows NT V7.0 or above or VINES(r) 6.0 or above and either the Banyan Enterprise Client for Windows 95 or Windows NT.
