RLN for StreetTalk, Version 2.0

RLN for StreetTalk, Banyan's premier remote access solution, exclusively licensed from Attachmate, provides customers with open, standards-based access to enterprise networks and the Internet. With support for Windows, Windows 95, Windows NT (Windows New Technology) A 32-bit operating system from Microsoft for Intel x86 CPUs. In addition to providing enterprise access to VINES networks, RLN for StreetTalk extends the reach of TCP/IP applications such as Netscape Suite Spot, Microsoft IIS Microsoft IIS - Internet Information Server , Oracle, SAP and SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol) The standard e-mail protocol on the Internet and part of the TCP/IP protocol suite, as defined by IETF RFC 2821. RLN for StreetTalk, Version 2.0 elevates the level of StreetTalk integration in the RLN product to new heights, far beyond the StreetTalk synchronization capabilities provided in the initial RLN for StreetTalk release. In Version 2.0, StreetTalk completely replaces the RLN directory structure facilitating single login and simplifying remote user configuration and management. In this new implementation, all RLN user information is stored in StreetTalk attributes. This enables Banyan customers to leverage the powerful StreetTalk, Windows-based management tools that they already use to manage their entire remote user population and all associated configuration information from any location in the network.

"RLN for StreetTalk, Version 2.0 turns RLN into a tightly integrated StreetTalk service," said Elaine Haney, Banyan's product line manager for StreetTalk, clients and connectivity. "These features are very powerful for our customers and significantly lower their training and administrative costs administrative costs,

For existing RLN for StreetTalk customers a maintenance release is being made available in advance of the release of the Version 2.0 product. This release provides customers with a number of product enhancements which streamline the Ban performance. Through the collaboration of the Banyan and Attachmate engineering teams, modifications were designed to fully leverage the Banyan communications infrastructure to provide new levels of performance in StreetTalk environments.
