Banter today announced the appointment of Christopher D. Brennan as President and Chief Executive Officer, effective immediately. Brennan most recently served as president and CEO of wireless middleware developer Mobileum, now called Roamware.

This dramatically reduces support costs while improving quality of service. Banter has a proven track record with more than 50 customers, including such global entities as ABN AMRO America, RBC Financial Group, VeriSign and Wells Fargo Bank. Brennan's breadth and depth of leadership experience includes previous positions as chief executive officer, president, chief operating officer and chief financial officer. He has also led marketing, sales, product development, services, and finance functions in public and privately-held organizations. Brennan has also sold, acquired, and integrated companies, led successful sales and new channel campaigns, launched numerous new products, and proven his expertise at company positioning, the development of strategic plans, and the recruitment of high performance teams.

Brennan was Mobileum's president and CEO in 2000, growing the company by recruiting a strong management team, raising $45 million in funding, landing BEA, TIBCO, Sun, Lucent and Sybase as partners, and Schwab, VISA, Honda, APL and Merrill Lynch as initial customers. He then assisted in Mobileum's merger with UnwiredSoft to become Roamware.

Before Mobileum, Brennan served as senior vice president and chief financial officer of Genesys Telecommunications, a contact center software company with $140 million in revenue. He was instrumental in repositioning the company and later completed two acquisitions before the company was itself acquired by Alcatel in a transaction valued at $1.5 billion.

Brennan has also served in executive positions with Diamond Lane Communications, Newbridge Networks and Tandem Computers, and in management positions with Digital Equipment Corporation, WANG Laboratories and Atari.

He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Commerce from the University of Louisville, where he remains a National Visiting Committee member to the College of Business and Public Administration.
