Banknorth Group, Inc., and the Boston Bruins The Boston Bruins are a professional ice hockey team based in Boston, Massachusetts. They are members of the Northeast Division of the Eastern Conference of the National Hockey League (NHL).  today announced they have finalized a three-year deal that names Banknorth the Official Bank of the Boston Bruins. The agreement includes a variety of joint advertising and promotional activities both on and off the ice. The partnership also reunites the Bruins with legendary hockey star Ray Bourque Raymond Jean Bourque (born December 28, 1960 in Saint-Laurent, Quebec, now a district of Montreal) is a Hockey Hall of Famer who currently holds the records for most goals, assists and points by a defenseman in the National Hockey League (NHL) and has become near-synonymous with , who recently signed with Banknorth as a company spokesman for promotional initiatives, advertising and corporate outreach.

"This partnership is a natural, as Banknorth and the Bruins share a commitment to excellence and the people of New England New England, name applied to the region comprising six states of the NE United States—Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Connecticut.
