Scalability and Performance

Banknorth Group, Inc., a $21 billion bank holding company based in Portland, Maine Portland is the largest city in the U.S. state of Maine, with a 2004 population of 63,882. Portland is Maine's cultural, social and economic capital. Tourists are drawn to Portland's historic Old Port district along Portland Harbor, which is at the mouth of the Fore River and part , has selected ImageSoft Technologies' new Titan Enterprise Edition (Titan e2) software suite to meet its document image and archive needs. Banknorth Group is one of the first ImageSoft customers to implement the Titan e2 document imaging and all-items archive system. ImageSoft is a unit of Fiserv, Inc. (Nasdaq:FISV FISV Fiserv, Inc (stock symbol) ).

Joseph W. Hanson, Executive Vice President of Banknorth Group, Inc.

"We needed an enterprise solution that could grow with us," said Hanson. "ImageSoft's Titan e2 offers the most complete solution with the advanced features and scalability we needed. We look forward to the overall efficiency the system will bring to our bank operations and anticipate being able to reduce back-office expense through image-based research."

Banknorth Group has deployed the new system at its centrally located check capture operation site in Haverhill, Massachusetts Haverhill (IPA Pronounciation /ˈheɪ.vrɪl/) is a city in Essex County, Massachusetts, United States. The population was 58,969 at the 2000 census. Haverhill is home to Northern Essex Community College. , where the bank has image-enabled its high-speed reader sorters for prime-pass image capture. The bank's central archive site (networking) archive site - (Or "FTP site", "FTP archive") An Internet host where program source, documents, e-mail or news messages are stored for public access via anonymous FTP, Gopher, World-Wide Web or other document distribution system. , located in Lewiston, Maine Lewiston, in Androscoggin County, is the second-largest city in the U.S. state of Maine. The estimated 2007 population was 37,734. It is one of two principal cities of and included within the Lewiston-Auburn, Maine Metropolitan New England City and Town Area and the , will be used as an all-items enterprise image archive for the entire holding company. The bank is currently processing approximately 9 million items per month at its Massachusetts site. By the end of 2002, when all bank locations are fully migrated to the Titan e2 suite, Banknorth Group expects to process approximately 30 million items per month on the system. The bank went "live" with the system in the first quarter of 2002.

ImageSoft Technologies recently unveiled Titan e2, calling it the most fully functional, flexible and robust system on the market today. With object-oriented, browser-based applications, Titan e2 is ultimately flexible, offering the promise of easy integration with other technologies, according to ImageSoft President Ron Thompson Ron Thompson (born 20 November 1966) is an American politician from the state of West Virginia. A Democrat, he served as a member of the West Virginia House of Delegates from 1994 to 2007, representing the state's 27th District in Raleigh County. .

"The flexibility of the Titan e2 solution will help protect Banknorth Group's imaging investment by positioning them to leverage existing or acquired assets within whatever image strategy they choose in the future," said Thompson. "In addition, the scalability of Titan e2 will allow Banknorth Group to incrementally add power when needed as a result of growth or acquisition, ensuring that they will not outgrow outgrow verb To change the relationship with a condition or structure by dint of ↑ age or size; while children outgrow clothing, and certain behaviors, they rarely outgrow diseases–eg, asthma  the system."

The Titan e2 system provides financial institutions with one image repository that can be used by all departments across the enterprise (i.e. customer support, cash management, teller, Internet banking, check processing). This is possible because the image-enabled software suite was built to handle high volumes with high-performance processing speeds.

Titan e2 was built using "CORBA (Common Object Request Broker Architecture) A software-based interface from the Object Management Group (OMG) that allows software modules (objects) to communicate with each other no matter where they are located on a private network or the global " (Common Object Request Broker Architecture (standard, programming) Common Object Request Broker Architecture - (CORBA) An Object Management Group specification which provides a standard messaging interface between distributed objects.

Java programming enables the system to link to other Web-centric applications -- on-line banking, for example. Because Titan e2 is built for the Web, it can efficiently accommodate current and future Web initiatives including on-line banking, cash management and online viewing for onsite and remote users, according to Thompson.
