BankAnnapolis is First to Go Door-to-door for Its Customers.

ANNAPOLIS

Annapolis, city, United States

Annapolis (ənăp`əlĭs), city (1990 pop. 33,187), state capital and seat of Anne Arundel co., central Md., on the south bank of the Severn River. Annapolis is a port of entry on Chesapeake Bay and the business and shipping center for the fruit and vegetable farmers of E Maryland.
, Md.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 2, 2001

Door-to-door banking for business customers is the latest new service in BankAnnapolis's campaign to make community banking in the Annapolis region easier and more flexible.

This month, BankAnnapolis became the first state-chartered bank approved to offer deposit pick-up service for its business customers, thanks to an opinion handed down recently by the Maryland Banking Commission.

"It's such an obvious customer service move that only the banking industry could have avoided it this long," said Mark Anders, BankAnnapolis President and CEO. "Door-to-door banking is just another way of fulfilling our commitment to our community to be 'the bank that doesn't act like one.' We're on a mission to eliminate banking hassles wherever we find them."

Anders said the bank will use a bonded third-party courier, the same type of courier that collects the bank's daily branch work. Drivers will make regularly scheduled pickups of non-cash deposits only. There is a fee for the service, Anders said, but much of the fee will already be covered by normal banking activities for many business customers.

"Anyone who's ever owned or worked at a small- or medium-sized business knows that a half hour or more of someone's time is wasted on making the bank deposit several days a week, if not every day. That adds up," Anders said. "We're the first community bank I know of in the region that's ever been able to give that time back to our customers, not to mention taking away the travel hassles and liability considerations. That's quite a value-added service.

"We aim to be recognized as the preeminent community bank in the region, and that means creating a completely new kind of relationship between banking customers and their bank. We've already given our customers the longest branch hours in the market. Now we're taking the bank right to our customers' doorsteps so that they can concentrate on running their businesses rather than running to the bank. More service innovations are on the way."

BankAnnapolis, the sole subsidiary of Annapolis National Bancorp, Inc. (NASDAQ:ANNB), has five branches in Anne Arundel and Queen Anne's counties. Last month, the Bank opened its new headquarters building at 1000 Bestgate Road, directly across from the Annapolis Mall.
