Bank opens office in Bahrain.

MANAMA: SociAtA GAnArale Group has further strengthened its wealth management activities in the Middle East with the creation of a new office in Bahrain.

Under the brand SociAtA GAnArale Wealth Management, the Manama office is headed by chief executive officer John Abraham, and regulated by the Central Bank of Bahrain The Central Bank of Bahrain was established in 1973 as the Bahrain Monetary Agency, shortly after Bahrain gained its independence from the United Kingdom. It takes over the Investment Firm Licenxe (Category 2) held by SociAtA GAnArale Asset Management in Bahrain.

SociAtA GAnArale Wealth Management will offer high net worth individuals based in the GCC GCC: see Gulf Cooperation Council.

The opening of SociAtA GAnArale Wealth Management in Bahrain marks a new step in the development of SociAtA GAnArale's wealth management business, which is already present in the Gulf in Abu Dhabi Abu Dhabi (ä`b thä`bē, zä–, dä–), Arab. Abu Zabi, sheikhdom (1995 pop. 928,360), c.  and Dubai, under the brand SG Private Banking.

The office already has 19 clients and total assets under management of $120 million.

The office, which has seven members of staff, will also look to the Saudi Arabian market where the bank has recently received a licence and is planning to open an office in the near future.

"Bahrain is a good place to be because it is truly a financial hub attracting international financial institutions," said Mr Abraham.

"It has the best regulatory system in the region and regulators whom you can call directly and get a result in next to no time.

"It also has a very highly educated young population."

He said that the operation offered tailor-made wealth management solutions for individual clients.

"We come out with products that suit individual clients," he said.

"The year 2008 and 2009 may have been a bad year for the markets but we offer our clients products that suit their particular needs in this market. What we offer are products that will preserve wealth for the next generation."
