Bank of the West in San Francisco has taken over United California
Bank, which gives Bank of the West 70 additional branch offices in
Southern California in addition to 45 new branches in Northern
California and the Central Valley. Bank of the West now becomes the
third-largest commercial bank in California with about 300 offices,
company officials said.
