This new initiative will include one of Bank of Montreal's group of companies, Chicago-based Harris Bank, a major U.S. Midwest financial institution.

BMO's Corporate Real Estate Division took several initiatives over the past few years to transform from a reactive transaction- oriented approach to a proactive, asset and portfolio management orientation.

Because current systems were not meeting their business demands, they prepared a strategic systems plan to identify the information technology requirements to meet their critical business needs.

"The implementation of the HORIZON system is absolutely consistent with the BMO corporate strategy," stated Peter VanSickle, BMO's director of relationship management.

"Particularly in regard to real estate services it will provide more intelligent reconnaissance with our database, and will allow us to more efficiently manage the day-to-day real estate activities, and as an added advantage, provide us with access to a much broader base than what we were able to access before."

BMO's Corporate Real Estate Division is solely responsible for providing real estate services to the BMO group of companies worldwide.

With assets of U.S. $118 billion and 1230 retail branches, BMO's real estate services include asset management, property and facilities management The management of a user's computer installation by an outside organization. "We looked for best in class," said Bill Eadie, systems project manager for BMO. "We are not interested in creating a proprietary system. We're interested in dealing with a vendor who will provide product enhancements well into the future and a company of sufficient scope to make the technology investments required to keep this product at the forefront of the industry."

HORIZON is the most flexible and intuitive property management system on the market today offering a fully integrated solution that seamlessly interfaces to other products.
