Extension of Licensing Agreement Validates Strength of

Company's DB2 and IMS Solution Offerings

BMC Software Inc. (NYSE:BMC), the leading provider of enterprise management, today announced that Bank of Montreal, after a review of competitive products, has extended its relationship with BMC Software for an additional three years. This agreement extends the original licensing agreement that was put into place in 1998 under which Bank of Montreal licensed a number of BMC Software's DB2 and IMS solutions. Under terms of the extended relationship, BMC Software will continue to support Bank of Montreal's vast customer base with database management solutions that will enable continued availability of critical data to customers around the clock.
