Designated a special economic zone in 1979, the city's spectacular economic growth led China to create over a dozen more similar areas., China -- Array Networks, the technology leader in Application Networking, today announced that Bank of China's Shenzhen Branch, one of the largest commercial banks in China, has selected Array Networks' SPX SPX - Sequenced Packet Exchange

series SSL VPN solution to secure its Enterprise Bank System (EBS See Swiss Electronic Bourse.) application. The Bank of China's EBS application enables enterprise customers to conduct secure banking transactions with their customers and suppliers. Enterprise customers can log in to the EBS online portal and conduct a wide range of secure transactions such as bill paying, account status query and accounts receivable services.

The Bank of China Shenzhen Branch selected the Array SPX series SSL VPN for its outstanding security, scalability and performance features.

"A number of commercial banks in China have introduced HTTPS-based application systems to enhance online security, but with varying degrees of success," said Mr. Wu, IT manager, Bank of China Shenzhen Branch. "With our EBS business growing rapidly, finding a high-performance solution that could scale was critical for us.

"After evaluating a number of SSL VPN vendors, we chose Array's SPX series SSL VPN appliance, not only because it offered a high degree of security and reliability, but also its industry-leading performance and scalability we could offer our online customers," Wu added.

"In addition to deploying the SPX series to secure online transactions for its customers, Bank of China Shenzhen Branch also provides secure remote access to network resources for the bank's own employees," said Michael Zhao, president and CEO, Array Networks. "The SPX series SSL VPN provides the bank with significant cost savings by eliminating the need to distribute and support legacy IPsec client software."

The Shenzhen Branch, located in China's "Silicon Valley," is considered an early adopter of technology for the Bank of China and was among the first to launch the bank's EBS for commercial banking customers.

Array's SSL VPN solutions enable industry-leading performance, integration, scalability and ease of implementation and management. The SPX5000 can support 64,000 concurrent users, 250 VLANs, and 128 virtual sites all within a single appliance. Running the ArrayOS(TM) software, the SPX5000 is about 200 percent faster than the previous generation of SSL VPN appliances and can sustain near-Gigabit line rate with SSL traffic. In addition, the SPX series can be installed and deployed rapidly. The system at the Bank of China Shenzhen Branch was up and running in about a half a day, compared with competitive systems that can take as long as three days to deploy.
