Although BMN's website has been operating for over 4 years, the new encrypted system with state-of-the-art technology, only became operational in the second half of December. This is traditionally the worst time of the year for publishing sales.

However, results of the first several weeks of the system's operation show that it successfully captured approx. twice as many sales transactions as the period immediately prior to it going live.

BMN also announced that it is now accepting applications from other medical publishers, both larger and smaller firms, to distribute their products via BMN's new website transaction system -- the only one of its type in the world.

The highly complex project, several years in development, was funded primarily through a unique, special pilot program of Bank of America. Bank of America, with $621 billion in assets, is the largest bank in the US.

BMN was one of only 2 companies -- and the only publisher -- to participate.

The system features extremely fast transaction capability -- usually less than 30 seconds -- an almost unheard of speed for e-commerce. Some of the products, such as individual issues of newsletters, are also fulfilled back to the buyer the same business day (usually within an hour).

In particular, same-day e-mail delivery (PDF (Portable Document Format) The de facto standard for document publishing from Adobe.
