Bank enables remote deposit from home.

USAA Federal Savings Bank in San Antonio, Texas, has started a free online service designed to enable customers to deposit checks from home, according to news reports.

The product, Deposit@Home, enables customers to deposit checks if they have a computer with a Windows 2000 or XP operating system and Internet Explorer 5.0 or higher and a scanner with a resolution of at least 200 dots per inch. USAA customers are mostly active duty military personnel assigned to bases around the world. After endorsing the check, the customer scans both the front and back and then logs onto the bank website to enable the transmission to the customer's account.
