Bank One Grants $10,000 to Scholarship Fund for Children/Grandchildren of Miners; and $2,500 to North Central West Virginia Chapter of the American Red Cross.

BUCKHANNON, W.Va. -- Bank One will give a $10,000 grant to the West Virginia Foundation of Independent Colleges and Universities to be used for scholarships for children and grandchildren of West Virginia miners.

Bank One is also contributing $2,500 to the American Red Cross to be used to help the families of miners who lost their lives in the Sago mine accident.

"We wanted to help the victim's families with their short-term needs, but also address the long-term needs of all miners' families," said Mark Prince, CEO of Bank One in West Virginia.

The scholarships will enable miners' children and grandchildren to access education at nine colleges and universities in West Virginia, including Wesleyan University.

The grants are from the JPMorgan Chase Foundation. Bank One in West Virginia will take the name Chase late in the first quarter 2006.
