Bangor Hydro Elects Two New Directors.BANGOR, Maine--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 2, 1998--Bangor Hydro-Electric Company announced that JOSEPH H. CYR CYR Colonia, Uruguay (Airport Code) and JAMES E. RIER, JR. have joined the Company's Board of Directors, replacing two retiring directors. Mr. Cyr is President of John T. Cyr & Sons, Inc., a transportation company in Old Town, Maine Old Town is a city in Penobscot County, Maine, United States. The population was 8,130 at the 2000 census. The city's developed area is chiefly located on a relatively large island, though its boundaries do extend past that. . He also holds officer positions in other transportation businesses. He is a director of Merrill Merchants Bancshares and its subsidiary Merrill Merchants Bank. He is also a Trustee of Husson College The current physical layout of the Husson College Campus includes the Gym, the O'Donnell Commons, home to the Schools of Education and Health, the Peabody academic building, Dickerman Dining Hall, the Dyke Center for Family Business, the NESCom building and the residence halls (Hart, and a Director of the Maine Community Foundation. He is active in community affairs, including the Orono/Old Town YMCA YMCA in full Young Men's Christian Association Nonsectarian, nonpolitical Christian lay movement that aims to develop high standards of Christian character among its members. . He is a native and current resident of Old Town. Mr. Cyr will replace G. Clifton Eames, who is retiring from the board. Mr. Rier is President of Rier Motors Co. of Machias, Maine. Prior to returning to Maine to take over the family business in 1975, Mr. Rier was a senior project engineer with General Motors. Mr. Rier has gained statewide recognition as a leader in education matters. He is a Gubernatorial appointment to the Maine State Board of Education, where he serves as chair of the board and chair of the Governor's School Funding Commission. He is active in a number of civic and community organizations. Mr. Rier is a native of, and current resident of, Machias. He replaces Alton E. Cianchette, who is also retiring from Bangor Hydro's board. Bangor Hydro is an electric utility serving a population of about 192,000 in an area encompassing approximately 5,200 square miles in eastern and east coastal Maine.
