Banging Drum for Motown.Byline: By Poppy Brady MUSICIANS from five to the age of 70 will be joining forces for an extravaganza of Motown music after being specially coached for the one-off event by members of the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra The City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra (CBSO) is a British orchestra based in Birmingham, England. The orchestra was founded as the City of Birmingham Orchestra in 1920, with Edward Elgar conducting its first concert in September of that year. . The Aston Performing Arts Academy will be playing songs made famous by Motown icons such as Diana Ross, Jackie Wilson and Aretha Franklin at the Drum arts centre in Aston on Thursday. Aimed at the African Caribbean community and led by Anji Daniels and Shirley Parnell, the APAA APAA Automotive Parts & Accessories Association (now Automotive Aftermarket Industry Association) APAA Active Phased-Array Antenna APAA Asian Pacific American Association APAA Association Protectrice des Animaux Abondonnes was set up in 2001 to promote classical music training for youngsters and adults from the inner city areas of Aston and Lozells The musicians meet for training sessions at the Birmingham Conservatoire conservatoire Noun a school of music [French] Conservatory, Conservatoire a school of advanced studies, usually in one of the fine arts, hence, the students and professors collectively; . The CBSO CBSO City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra has an extensive history of being involved in annual coaching projects with the APAA. The Motown performance is the culmination of a series of coaching sessions at the CBSO Centre with members of the Berkeley Street Dance Orchestra. Lisa Mallett, CBSO education officer said: "It has been a pleasure and a very fulfilling experience to work with a bunch of very enthusiastic individuals.
