Banger van in a smash.

HEARD the one about the sausage van that became a banger? It had a s-mash!

Hall Green sausage maker A W Lashford and Sons has lost one of its two branded vans after an accident in Knowle.

No prosecution is expected after witnesses saw driver Ian Cunniam lose control of the van on a camber cam·ber

Co-owner Steve Lashford said: "Luckily the van was virtually empty at the time of the crash so we didn't lose any sausages.

"Ian was taking 2lb of samples round to a pub which was considering taking our food. We're currently supplying about 40 pubs in the Knowle, Warwick and Leamington area and getting lots more inquiries all the time.

"Despite the recession, business is booming as many pubs are starting to do simple meals like bangers and mash More of a serving suggestion than a recipe, bangers and mash is a British colloquial name for sausage (bangers) served with mashed potatoes. The sausage may be one of a variety of flavoured sausage; such as pork, pork and apple, tomato, beef, Lincolnshire, or Cumberland.  and faggots and peas instead of expensive steaks.

"We have two vans and by working earlier and later since the crash we've been able to cope."
