The lyrics describe the band members desire to spend "more time with God". "Sometimes it’s a real struggle to spend time with God. with his only living son. Mann's mother is quickly losing a battle with depression. A dilapidated horse stable his father used to take him to, along with his brother and best friend, and his love of painting become Mann's routes of escape. Kee-lee, Mann's best friend, who shares the love of painting, also becomes an outlet for Mann. Kee-lee is the eldest of several children and has already dropped out of school, as did all of the adults in his family. The two hope that murals and paintings of victims around the city will bring attention to the city's murder epidemic. Eventually, both begin negative pursuits. To save his son, Mann's father leaves him and Kee-lee in the woods to survive on their own, hoping that this ancient African tradition will teach them to follow a better path.
