Mr. Thirion has been Chairman of Bandspeed's board of directors since December 2000. Last month, Bandspeed introduced its Gypsy(tm) wireless LAN A local area network that transmits over the air typically in the 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz unlicensed frequency band. It does not require line of sight between sender and receiver. Wireless base stations (access points) are wired to an Ethernet network and transmit a radio frequency over an area  (WLAN See wireless LAN.

Mr. Thirion is co-founder and General Partner of JatoTech Ventures, L.P., a major Bandspeed investor. He has been actively involved with Bandspeed's technology and business development since joining the board of directors, and he will retain his position as Company Chairman, as well as his partnership at JatoTech Ventures. Mr. Thirion succeeds Michael Luther, Bandspeed's co-founder and CEO, who will remain on the board and active with the company.

Previously, Mr. Thirion was co-founder, president, and CEO of two successful high-tech companies. Thomas-Conrad Corporation (1985-1995) was founded in 1985 and acquired by Compaq Computer in 1995. Jato Technologies (1996-1999) was acquired by Level One Communications in November 1998, which was then acquired by Intel Corporation (company) Intel Corporation - A US microelectronics manufacturer. They produced the Intel 4004, Intel 8080, Intel 8086, Intel 80186, Intel 80286, Intel 80386, Intel 486 and Pentium microprocessor families as well as many other integrated circuits and personal computer networking  in August 1999.

In 1991, Mr. Thirion was named Austin Entrepreneur of the Year.
