Bands to battle for Party spot.CALLING all local bands - time is running out to enter a battle which could see you playing to a crowd of thousands. Enter tainment magazine Alive is running a battle of the bands to find four acts to perform at the free Party In The Park in Dewsbury Dewsbury (dy z`bərē), town (1991 pop. 49,612), Kirklees metropolitan district, N central England, on the Calder River. on August 23.
But you only have until Friday to enter and be in with a chance of performing at 20-minute set at the party, which draws thousands of people and will be headlined by McFly. The competition is being run by Huddersfield-based Alive on behalf of Kirklees Council and supported by HD1 Studios. Eight bands will compete in two heats during early August. To enter, at least one band member must live in Kirklees. Bands should email battleofthebands@alive.co.uk with a link to a website, such as Myspace, where at least two original recorded tracks can be listened to. They must also send a biography and two photos of the band. Bands can also submit the information in hard format to ALIVE, Battle of the Bands, 80 New North Road, Huddersfield, HD1 5NE.
