Bands energize donors.

Dear Editor:

In response to your timely cover story (A Wristed Development, July 15), I would like to share the experience of the United Mitochondrial Disease Foundation, as we have also jumped on the wristband wagon.

While our numbers can't compare with some of the larger organizations (we've sold/distributed approximately 60,000 of wristbands since January), the increased awareness our "Energy Bands" have created is priceless. This is a testament to our thousands of dedicated members who urged us to come up with a UMDF bracelet and worked tirelessly to share them with family, friends, and strangers.

Whether a trend or not, these wristbands have created a visible and valuable tool for empowering individuals who identify with a cause and getting the word out.

Thank you, J. Thomas Viall CEO/Executive Director United Mitochondrial Disease Foundation
