Bandh, originally a Hindi word meaning 'closed', is a form of protest used by political activists in some countries in South Asia like India and Nepal. called by INLD INLD Indian National Lok Dal (India, political party) and Left parties against the Government's failure to check price rise, life came on a standstill in the district, on Tuesday. The bandh has gone off successfully and peacefully.
All shops and other business organisations remained close due to bandh. Though the bandh was called up by all left parties but apart from INLD not a single political party looked interested to make it successful.
From Tuesday morning INLD local leaders came on the roads and confirmed that shops should not get open. They also organised a rally to protest against the Government's failure to check price rise. With district headquarter, Karnal, other areas of the district, Ghronda, Indri, Nilokheri, Jundla and Assandh also looked paralysed.

MLA (Brit Narender Sangwan, INLD, said that Government has failed on every post in the State. People don't have basic amenities, youth is facing unemployment, prices of every commodity are rising day by day and farmers are not getting fair price for their production, he added. He further said that government is just claiming progress but the things at ground level have not changed.
