Band-Ore Resources Ltd. Second -- Eastern -- Stepout Hits Gold in Timmins.

TORONTO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 5, 1996--Band-Ore Resources Ltd. (TSE:BAN) (the "Company") is pleased to announce that a step-out drill hole #TH96-101 located 1.2 km to the east of discovery hole #TH96-09 has intersected ore-grade gold mineralization that assayed 0.153 ounces gold per ton (5.23 g/t) over 11.5 feet (3.5 m). In addition to this drill hole, the Company has discovered an outcrop containing similar mineralization and alteration to the Golden River Zone. Of further significance, this outcrop is located approximately 1.1 km to the east of drill hole TH96-101 and 0.5 km to the west of the Band-Ore/Black Pearl border. Black Pearl Minerals recently announced that drill hole #8, located near the Band-Ore border, assayed 0.173 ounces gold per ton (5.92 g/t) over 5 feet (1.5 m).

Additional drilling to the east and west of the Golden River Zone has also intersected similar mineralization and alteration, thus extending the drill indicated strike length of the Golden River Zone to approximately 1.6 km. Shallow drilling will continue to the east and west to outline a potential open pit resource and will be followed up by a deep drilling program to define the mineralization to depth. The Golden River Zone remains open to the east, west and to depth.

As a result of these new developments the potential strike length of the Golden River Zone has now been extended to over 4 km across the Company's 100 percent owned Thorne property. A stripping and trenching program has commenced in the area of the outcrop.

0.313  ounces gold per ton (10.7 g/t) over 5.0   feet (1.5 m)

    Ongoing exploration programs are continuing on the Company's
properties that surround the Thorne property.  Battle Mountain Gold
(formerly Hemlo Gold Mines Inc.) and Green-Ice Corporation have
commenced drilling on properties optioned from Band-Ore that are
located to the west of the Thorne property.  Teck Exploration Ltd.
and Sedex Mining Corp.  have commenced drilling programs on the
Company's properties located to the north of the Thorne property.
Southern Africa Minerals Corporation and Abitibi Mining Corp. will
resume drilling programs in the near future.
    In other area exploration programs, Holmer Gold Mines announced
drill results last week with assay results as high as 0.83 ounces
gold per ton (28.4 g/t) over 13.1 feet (4 m).  The Holmer property is
located immediately to the north of the Thorne property and the
results significantly enhance the prospects of the Timmins West camp.
