outside is soon dispelled by a barrage of Hawaiian-tinged riffs and soothing worldlywise vocals.

Intellectual New Yorkans Vampire Weekend kick-started their UK tour in fine style, with impeccable versions of Mansard Roof mansard roof (măn`särd), type of roof, so named because it was frequently used by the French architect François Mansart. It was not devised by him but was used early in the 16th cent.  and Campus but it's the Simon and Garfunkelinspired single Cape Cod Cape Cod, narrow peninsula of glacial origin, 399 sq mi (1,033 sq km), SE Mass., extending 65 mi (105 km) E and N into the Atlantic Ocean. It is generally flat, with sand dunes, low hills, and numerous lakes.  Kwassa Kwassa which really sticks out above the palm trees.

Old favourites I Stand Corrected, A-Punk and Oxford Comma are gratefully received before the set is littered with half-a-dozen new tracks, one which can best be described as a crescendo of sexual sounding noises, which all hint at a bright, sunny future.

The break-down of One (Blake's Got A New Face) fails to engage the large and rather sweaty crowd and the band also struggle in substituting the violins on M79 for high pitched guitars but singer Ezra Koenig remains compelling and humble throughout.

As on the album, the frantic, piano-led Walcott is Vampire's stand out track and deserves its perennial status as customary curtain-closer.
