PANAMA CITY, Republic of Panama--(BUSINESS WIRE)--February 8, 2000

Banco Latinoamericano de Exportaciones, S.A. (BLADEX) (NYSE:BLX), today announced that its Board of Directors would recommend to shareholders at the Bank's annual general meeting on April 28, 2000, a plan to consolidate the Bank's Class B and Class C shares into a single class and to make that Class convertible on a share-for-share basis into the existing Class E shares which are traded on The New York Stock Exchange. The plan also would restructure the Bank's Board of Directors to provide more proportional representation for the various share classes.
