BANCO BRADESCO Banco Bradesco, short for Banco Brasileiro de Descontos, that is 'Brazilian Discount Bank', is one of the Big Four banks in Brazil, the others being Banco do Brasil, Banco Itaú and Unibanco. Bradesco is the largest private bank in Brazil. , Brazil's No. 1 private bank, won a bid to take over a 90% stake in Brazil's Banco do Estado do Maranhao for approximately US$27 million. Bradesco BRADESCO Banco Brasileiro de Descontos SA (Brazilian bank)  also announced that it has received approval from the U.S. Federal Reserve Bank to operate as a financial holding company in the United States United States, officially United States of America, republic (2005 est. pop. 295,734,000), 3,539,227 sq mi (9,166,598 sq km), North America. The United States is the world's third largest country in population and the fourth largest country in area. , enabling it to perform additional financial services such as underwriting and merchant banking.
