The following honorees are Gold-level members of the Detroit Regional Chamber.

Raymond Lombardi, a tax partner with Deloitte & Touche LLP LLP - Lower Layer Protocol , received a Distinguished Alumni Award from Eastern Michigan University Eastern Michigan University, mainly at Ypsilanti, Mich.; coeducational; founded 1849 as a normal school, became Eastern Michigan College in 1956, gained university status in 1959.  during EMU's 42nd annual Alumni Awards Dinner in Ypsilanti. A 1976 EMU graduate, Lombard was honored for "achieving extraordinary distinction in his chosen field."

Caponigro Public Relations public relations, activities and policies used to create public interest in a person, idea, product, institution, or business establishment. By its nature, public relations is devoted to serving particular interests by presenting them to the public in the most  Inc.'s annual employee retreat, "Adventures in Decision-Making," was awarded with a 2002 Iron SABRE Award from New York-based The Holmes Group. The firm, with offices in Southfield and Detroit, was honored in the workplaces initiatives category for innovation and leadership by a public relations firm.

The following honorees are Silver-level members of the Detroit Regional Chamber.

German automaker. Founded as an aircraft engine manufacturer in 1916, the company assumed the name Bayerische Motoren Werke and became known for its high-speed motorcycles in the 1920s.

 customer service award to Erhard BMW, one of the largest-volume BMW dealerships in the United States. Erhard's No. 1 ranking was the result of a customer satisfaction survey of 342 BMW dealerships. Erhard BMW operates dealerships in Bloomfield Hills and Farmington Hills.

SmithGroup Inc. was named the American Institute of Architects The American Institute of Architects (AIA) is a professional organization for architects in the United States. Organized in 1857, the Institute conducts various activities and programs to support the profession and enhance its public image, including periodically awarding the AIA  Michigan Firm of the Year. Celebrating its 150th anniversary this year, Detroit-based SmithGroup is the oldest continuously practicing architecture and engineering firm in the United States. Eugene C. , senior vice president, member of the SmithGroup Michigan Board of Directors and studio leader, also received AIA AIA - Application Integration Architecture  Michigan's Gold Medal--the highest honor that the 2,000-member organization can bestow--during the AIA's annual awards program. Andrew A. Vazzano, FAIA, SmithGroup's president and managing director, was also honored for being the only Michigan architect inducted into the AIA College of Fellows this year. SmithGroup also received a Construction & Design award from ESD-The Engineering Society for its work on Ford Field, new home of the Detroit Lions.

Butzel Long PC attorney and shareholder Allan Nachman was honored as one of two "Outstanding Volunteers" during Hospice of Michigan's 18th Annual Crystal Rose Ball. In another honor for Butzel Long, full-time shareholder Frederick G. Buesser was admitted as a Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial mat·ri·mo·ny

Southfield-based Barton Malow CO. was awarded ESD (1) (Electronic Software Distribution) Distributing new software and upgrades via the network rather than individual installations on each machine. See ESL.  -- The Engineering Society's 2003 Construction and Design Award for the historical restoration and renovation for Cadillac Place, formerly the General Motors headquarters, in Detroit's New Center. The massive renovation project, which encompassed virtually all 15 stories of the historic building, was performed while the building was partially occupied.

The following honorees are Bronze-level members of the Detroit Regional Chamber.

Chris Peterson, CPA (Computer Press Association, Landing, NJ) An earlier membership organization founded in 1983 that promoted excellence in computer journalism. Its annual awards honored outstanding examples in print, broadcast and electronic media. The CPA disbanded in 2000. , CPE (Customer Premises Equipment) Communications equipment that resides on the customer's premises.

, a principal at Follmer Rudzewicz PLC in Southfield, was elected treasurer of the Michigan Quality Council for 2003-04. Peterson has been practicing public accounting for 20 years and has worked with a wide variety of clients in manufacturing, distribution and service industries.

Happy Anniversary! Southfield-based HarleyEllis, an award-winning planning, design and build services firm, is commemorating its 95th anniversary with an additional expansion. In a recent merger with Chicago-based Environ, the firm now staffs more than 300 architects, designers, planners, engineers, strategists and facilities managers, and expects annual revenue to exceed $71 million.

Kristen McGill, a media buyer at Brogan & Partners Convergence Marketing in Detroit, finished the 107th Boston Marathon in April with an impressive time of three hours, 43 minutes and 47 seconds. McGill qualified for the Boston Marathon by running last October's Detroit Marathon, her first marathon, in three hours and 37 minutes.

The College for Creative Studies in Detroit presented honorary Doctorate of Fine Arts degrees to former New York Times chief art critic John Russell, automotive designer Giorgetto Giugiaro, animator Caroline Leaf and Detroit painter and muralist Charles McGee during its May commencement ceremony.
