Banc One Plans to Market Credit Cards in U.K.; Cardiff Office to Employ 1,000 Within Five Years.

:ONE) today announced plans to begin marketing credit cards in the United Kingdom by year-end 1998 under the trade name Bank One International.

Blewett, president of Bank One International, said the Cardiff operations center will be located in space at the Grosvenor Waterside development on Cardiff Bay Cardiff Bay (Welsh: Bae Caerdydd) is the regeneration area created by the Cardiff Barrage which impounded two rivers (Taff and Ely) to form a new 500 acre freshwater lake around the former dockland area south of the city centre of Cardiff in south Wales. . Bank One International will complete custom-designed facilities in the same area in the Spring of 2000. Blewett said the Cardiff offices will employ 100 initially, growing to 270 by year-end 1999 and to 1,000 within five years. He said Bank One will be hiring for jobs in all aspects of the credit card business, including full-time finance, accounting, customer service, credit, risk management, customer support, training and supervisory positions.
