Baltimore UniCERT 3.5 is the world's first PKI to support Windows 2000, enabling Microsoft Corp. customers worldwide to easily enhance the security of their existing desktop operating system. In addition, UniCERT 3.5 introduces new improved features that will create new opportunities for Application Service Providers (ASPs), allowing them to provide more secure and cost-effective services.

Through UniCERT 3.5's support for Windows 2000, organizations will, for the first time, be able to deploy a secure Intranet and Extranet without the need to rollout and maintain costly security stand-alone applications and proprietary clients. UniCERT will allow desktop users to make use of the following Microsoft applications: Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Internet Explorer, Internet Information Server (IIS) capabilitites, Authenticode, file encryption, smartcard based single sign-on and Virtual Private Network/remote access. In addition, the new features will allow Application Service Providers (ASPs) to deploy private PKIs for their customers with greatly reduced infrastructure costs.

While most CA's either support a single alphabet set-most commonly the Latin alphabet used in romance languages such as English, French, Spanish and German -- the latest version of UniCERT can support any array of language sets such as Japanese or Russian. UniCERT 3.5 also provides a group of pre-set templates to help customers quickly and easily establish import and export security policies. As a result, with UniCERT 3.5, truly global PKI systems can be safely deployed in a short period of time.
