Baltic first for Damien Hirst exploring preventative; BRIT ART FAVOURITE'S DEBUT SHOW ON TYNESIDE.Byline: LINDA RICHARDS BRIT Art favourite Damien Hirst is bringing his wacky world to Tyneside. The controversial artist is transforming the Baltic's Level 2 space into a pharmacy pharmacy, art of compounding and dispensing drugs and medication. Pharmacy is sponsored by Newcastle University's Medical School which is celebrating its 175 year anniversary. Day started his career at Tottenham Hotspur as a trainee, but made only one league appearance for them before transferring to First Division Crystal Palace for £22,500 shortly , Pro-Vice-Chancellor for the university's Faculty PHARMDamien of Medical Sciences, said: "By bringing art and medicine together, visitors are made to think about medical treatments and what they mean to their own healthcare. "A lot of the work we're doing is about helping people make healthier life choices and exploring preventative medicine rather than relying on drug-related treatment and this exhibition we hope, will stimulate that debate in the North East. "Supporting Pharmacy, by one of the UK's foremost contemporary artists is an exciting step and a fitting celebration of 175 years of medical excellence."
