Balochistan package soon: Sumsam.

RAHIM YAR KHAN, November 13, 2009 (Balochistan Times): Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Syed Sumsam Bukhari has said that the PPP government would repeal 17th amendment and 58-2B as per its manifesto. Addressing a press conference here Friday, he said that the government is taking measures on priority basis to remove backwardness and deprivations of the people of small provinces which were ignored in the past. To a question about the proposed Balochistan package, he said it was being brought to ensure rapid progress and development of the province. He said government was also paying full attention to development of far flung areas of the Punjab province and work on Nishtar Ghat Pul would start soon. Its foundation would be laid next month, he added. He said the mega project is being initiated to meet the long standing demand of the people of the area adding people of Rajan Pur and R Y Khan districts would be its beneficiaries. He said elections in Gilgit-Baltistan were held in free, air and transparent manner and allegations of irregularities were totally baseless. About Military operation in South Waziristan, he said, it was essential to eliminate terrorists and would be successful like that of Swat operation. He said peace and better law and order was essential for the development and prosperity of the country.
