Balochistan govt to upgrade 217 schools, establish 111 new colleges.


QUETTA, July 09, 2009 (Balochistan Times) -- The Balochistan government has decided to award scholarships to hundreds of students of the province under Shaheed Noun 1. shaheed - Arabic term for holy martyrs; applied by Palestinians to suicide bombers

 sources in the Education and Finance Department the scholarship would be awarded to 60 students of secondary and 180 students of higher secondary level on merit basis. The government would also upgrade 109 primary schools to middle level and 108 middle schools to the level of high schools across the province. These schools would not only cater to the needs of expanding populations in far flung areas but also enhance the educational ratio throughout the province. Moreover, the department would also establish some 111 new colleges and have enhanced the grant of the public sector universities from Rs. 150 million to Rs. 200 millions.
