Baloch leader's killing triggers shutdown.


KABUL (PAN): Most parts of Pakistan's southwestern Balochistan province, bordering Afghanistan, were hit by a crippling shutdown against the slaying of a nationalist leader Noun 1. nationalist leader - the leader of a nationalist movement

. Rasool Bakhsh went missing on August 23 from Uthal area of Lasbela district Lasbela is a coastal district of Balochistan province of Pakistan. It became a separate district in Kalat division on 30th June 1954. The name is derived from the words Las which signifies a plain, the greater part of the area being a flat plain, and Bela . His dead body was found from Bela area today.

The strike call was also endorsed by many Baloch nationalist groups.

On day one, the shutdown crippled Turbat,Awaran, Panjgur,Khuzdar,Kalat and other parts of Balochistan. Markets and shopping centres wore a deserted look,with few public transport vehicles and little business activity seen in the areas.

Also a human rights activist, Mengal's dead body that was found hanging from a tree reportedly bore telltale signs of torture,Pakistan TV channels reported.
