Adam (ăd`əm), [Heb.,=man], in the Bible, the first man. In the Book of Genesis, God creates humankind in his image as a species of male and female, giving them dominion over other life. Christensen was its first artistic director and also established the first ballet department in an American university at the University of Utah in 1951. . Currently associate artistic director of the Joffrey Ballet Joffrey Ballet, one of the major American dance companies. It was founded in New York City in 1954 by the dancer-choreographer Robert Joffrey. From 1956 to 1964 it made yearly tours of the United States. , he also danced with the Joffrey for 11 years.
