The company introduced its noise reduction system for tape recording in that same year, which became known as Dolby A and has been  selected the NEC STARUS NC2500S Digital Cinema projectors to deploy in several state-of-the-art movie theatres owned by Malco Theatres and Megaplex Theatres. During the fourth quarter of 2006, four systems will be deployed in Malco Theatres and three in Megaplex Theatres. The additional systems will be delivered to Malco and Megaplex in the first half of 2007.

In addition, Wilmers said Ballantyne is working with Dolby on future digital cinema developments including Dolby's recently announced 3D system.
