Ball State University Deploys Netcordia's NetMRI to Facilitate Management and Enforcement of Network Configuration Policies.

Proactive analysis solution quickly identifies network issues so they are addressed before outages occur

ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- Netcordia, a leading provider of network management solutions, today announced that Ball State University has deployed its NetMRI network management solution to proactively monitor its entire network. Ball State's network and data services support over 3,000 employees and 18,000 students.

Prior to installing NetMRI, the Ball State IT staff had a difficult time keeping track of configurations on the network. Specifically, they spent a lot of time getting the university network to abide by To stand to; to adhere; to maintain.

its policies. Now, this single solution allows them to easily and quickly address all configuration challenges.

NetMRI discovers problems on the network that previously were not detected with other monitoring systems. It finds power supply issues that in the past went unnoticed and identifies port errors faster than previous solutions. Because NetMRI automatically discovers issues before they cause significant problems, the staff is now able to address any potential threats in a timely manner - rather than having to react to outages in the middle of the night or during critical hours Critical Hours is that time from sunrise to two hours after sunrise, and from two hours before sunset until sunset, local time. During that time, certain American radio stations may be operating with reduced power as a result of Section 73.  when the network is needed the most.

"We needed a solution that could facilitate proactive monitoring of our network and simplify our management process," said Daniel K. Fortriede, Ball State's senior network engineer for University Computing Services. "NetMRI is a functional, cost-effective way to manage a variety of network issues in one place. Every morning I can go to the Issues page and see what is on the horizon for the day."

NetMRI's Policy Enforcement function allows engineers to make rapid changes across multiple devices from different vendors without significant programming, all from a centralized platform.

"We're pleased that NetMRI has helped to streamline management of Ball State's extensive network," said Don Pyle Don Pyle is a Canadian record producer and musician, who has been a member of a number of bands.
