Balfour Beatty moving regional HQ to Cobalt site.


ONE of the UK's largest mechanical and electrical building services companies is to relocate its Newcastle offices to a single site location at Cobalt Park, North Tyneside North Tyneside is a metropolitan borough of Tyne and Wear in the North East of England. Its seat is at the Town Hall, Wallsend.

Created in 1974, the borough lies within the historic county boundaries of Northumberland.

Balfour Beatty Engineering Services (BBES BBES Business Banner Exchange System

) has taken 12,242 sq ft (1,137 sq m) in Cobalt's recently completed 13a office.

Phil McGuire, director, said its new HQ accommodates 80 staff: "For us, moving to Cobalt made complete sense. It's a hi-tech office with facilities that are ideal for our business. The location is great and the access to sustainable transport fits well with our corporate responsibility plan."

Current BBES projects include Durham Johnston School, Eldon Square, Kenton School and Sunderland Building Schools for the Future Building Schools for the Future (BSF) is the name of the UK Government's investment programme in secondary school buildings in England. The program is very ambitious in its costs, timescales and objectives, yet opposition politicians in the Conservative Party and Liberal Democrats .

Guy Marsden, director of Highbridge Business Park Limited, developers of Cobalt, said: "We are delighted that a company with so prestigious a reputation as BBES has chosen to locate its presence in the North East at Cobalt. It will join a growing list of blue chip occupiers that include Orange, Procter & Gamble and Banco Santander."
