Baldassano creates hospitable space at LI medical building.Whether you're visiting for a check-up or a treatment, the majority would agree, going to the doctor isn't their favorite activity. Many people enter any medical building feeling anxiety and discomfort. Baldassano Architecture, LLP LLP - Lower Layer Protocol has met the challenge of designing a warm, inviting space for visitors and patients at the newly completed medical office building at 100 Hospital Road in East Patchogue for owner/developer, Damianos Realty Group, LLC (Logical Link Control) See "LANs" under data link protocol. LLC - Logical Link Control . "Our goal was to create a reassuring environment that would help to calm patients on their way to the doctor's office," says Philip Monastero, architect, pPartner, Baldassano Architecture, LLP based in Ronkonkoma, Long Island. The design of the facade features a two-toned red brick that complements the hospital across the street. Several elements--open metal sunscreen sunscreen /sun·screen/ (-skren) a substance applied to the skin to protect it from the effects of the sun's rays. sun·screen n. , green glass windows and large, curved metal awning over the entryway--combined with the traditional brick give the structure a modern feel. "The same warm brick from the exterior is used in the built-in seating in the lobby area, helping to welcome people into the space," Monastero explains. The curved element used on the building's exterior awning is replicated inside the lobby with a similar curved wall and ceiling soffit that peripherally guides the visitor to the corridor from both the front and back entrances. Susan Hanley, designer at Baldassano Architecture, LLP adds, "We use materials that are universally recognized, making the space familiar and comfortable for those who spend time there." The interior design elements of the lobby are light-colored, natural maplewood and cherry insets, granite and plantings.
